Leandi Monroe, LPC

Leandi is a trauma-informed counselor who blends advanced training in EMDR, TF-CBT, and CPT with her own lived experience as a mom who has navigated postpartum depression and anxiety. She offers a safe, compassionate space where clients can begin to heal, build resilience, and rediscover hope.

Leandi is bilingual in English & Afrikaans

Leandi is a compassionate and dedicated counselor with over seven years of experience in the mental health field, specializing in trauma-informed care. She has worked with individuals across a broad spectrum of mental health concerns, with a focus on trauma, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse. Her clinical expertise is built on evidence-based therapeutic modalities, and she is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) (Certification Pending). As a mom who has personally navigated postpartum depression and anxiety, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my work.

Leandi grew up in South Africa, where she was exposed to a diverse range of cultural perspectives and experiences. Her travels have taken her to various countries, where she has encountered the pervasive stigma surrounding mental health. This exposure has deeply influenced her approach to therapy, as she believes that mental health care should be as normal and accessible as taking care of our physical and spiritual health. Our mental, emotional, and physical well-being are inextricably connected, and it’s essential to treat them all with the same level of care and attention.

She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from North West University in South Africa, which laid the foundation for her passion for mental health. After immigrating to the United States, she continued her education and earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Her academic and professional journey has afforded her a diverse understanding of mental health from both a global and a local perspective.

Throughout her career, she has been fortunate to work with individuals from various backgrounds, experiencing a wide range of life challenges. Her specialization in trauma-informed care allows her to offer a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel heard and understood. She understands that trauma can deeply impact an individual’s life, and is committed to guiding her clients toward healing, resilience, and recovery.

As a counselor, she prioritizes creating a comfortable, non-judgmental space for clients. She understands that everyone’s healing journey is unique, and adapts her approach to meet each individual’s needs and pace. Sessions are collaborative, and she believes in working together to set realistic goals while respecting each person’s pace and process. It’s important to her that you feel empowered throughout the journey, and she aims to make each session productive, insightful, and respectful of your personal boundaries.

She believes in building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Leandi sees her role as a guide—helping you navigate through difficult emotions, past trauma, and life transitions, while offering support, coping strategies, and tools to promote growth and healing.

If you’re ready to begin your therapeutic journey, she would be honored to walk beside you and support you through each step of the process.
